I have read that Palestinian death toll in Gaza has risen to 831 people and more than 3.350 injured (most of them are children and even babies) as the Israeli offensive enters its third week.
The Gaza population is completely locked in. The civilian population has no way to hide and we must remember that Gaza Strip has a high density. There are 1.5 million people effectively trapped in the Gaza Strip, in the midst of a humanitarian disaster. This is a high humanitarian catastrophe. This is the Israeli Army against Palestinian civilian population.
Some sources in Gaza reports that Israeli soldiers have entered and taken up positions in a number of Palestinian homes, forcing families to stay in a ground floor room while they use the rest of their house as a military base and sniper position. This clearly increases the risk to the Palestinian families concerned and means they are effectively being used as human shields.
I HATE ALL THE ARMIES!!!.
A resolution, approved in Geneva on Monday, condemning Israel’s military offensive in Gaza has been adopted by the UN Human Rights Council.
The resolution said Israel’s operation had "resulted in massive violations of human rights of the Palestinian people".
It "strongly condemns the ongoing Israeli military operations (...) which have resulted in massive violations of human rights of the Palestinian people and systematic destruction of the Palestinian infrastructure".
Remember: until today (12th January) more than 900 Palestinians have died, almost a third of them children, and a further 4,100 have been wounded. At least 25,000 have been displaced due to the ongoing bombardment, but are unable to flee the overcrowded territory as crossing points remain closed.
The resolution passed by 33 votes to one (Canada), with 13 abstentions (all European Union countries).
The US took no part in the debate.
